We like to migrate from Exchange 2003 to 2010. We have many mailenabled public folder used just for public e-mail. Can we migrate this public folder from Exchange 2003 to shared mailboxes on Exchange 2010?
What are the advantages of shared mailboxes?

Thanks

You can export the data from public folders to PST file using Outlook and import that data to shared mailbox from PST using Import-Mailbox cmdlet or using outlook. OR Directly moving data from Public Folders to Shared Mailbox (you should have permission on both of the things) in Outlook.

Both can be used for similar functionalities and needs but matter of Public Folder supportability which might not be available in next version of Exchange (after 2010, whatever comes) so better to move towards shared mailboxes so users are getting familiar right away...
