Cannot send/receive email with Outlook 2003 on new Windows 7 laptop

I just received my new laptop with Windows 7. I installed Office Pro 2003 including Outlook 2003 from my original disks & then used Windows Easy Transfer to move files/settings from my old XP laptop to the new one. All works fine EXCEPT Outlook. I cannot send or receive email & my ISP says they can't help after verifying the proper ports & SSL settings. As I need to download & keep sensitive emails, using Windows Live Mail is not appropriate. Does anybody know what the issue might be that is preventing Outlook from downloading my mail from my ATT/Yahoo account on my new laptop? Outlook 2003 still works just fine on my old XP laptop but that is being taken out of service due to a hardware failure. I have uninstalled/reinstalled Office 2003 a couple of times to get what I thought was a clean install.

What happens when you try?

Any error messages?

Windows Easy Transfer is not a reliable way to transfer over Outlook configuration settings and data. Recreate your mail profile manually and try again. See;

http://www.howto-outlook.com/faq/newprofile.htm

Also make sure that you have applied Service Pack 3 for Office 2003 and all updates that came out after that. This is required to make Outlook 2003 compatible with Windows 7.

What happens if you click on test account settings for the email account configured in Outlook?

Click on Tools > Options >Mail Setup > E-mail Accounts > Select the email account you would like to edit and click theChange button > test account settings.

Refer the link below for help on this issue:

Hi, Robert. So much for the Easy Transfer utility however I doubt it was the problem in this case as I have the same problem on a Vista machine that I did not use Easy Transfer with. I have deleted/recreated my mail profile several times with no change. Having used Outlook for something like 25 years, this was a no-brainer. I do have SP3 for Office 2003 installed. The following 2 error message dialogs appear at the indicated times.

When testing account settings:

*Send test email message: The specified server was found, but there was no response from the server. Please verify that the port and SSL information is correct. To access these settings close this dialog, then click More Settings and click on the Advanced tabl

*Find incoming mail server (POP3): Outlook could not connect to the incoming mail server (POP3). The problem could be the server name or port, or your server may not support SSL. Verify your port and SSL settings in More Settings under the Advanced tab.

When trying to send - Outlook Send/Receive Progress:

!Task 'Candy's Email - Receiving' reported error (ox800CCC0F): The connection to the server was interrupted. If this problem continues, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).

I have looked at this KB article & it did me no good whatsoever. As indicated in my response to Robert, I get the following message when testing settings. Again, I used theexact same disks to install Office 2003 on the new laptop as I did with the old ones plus did the install as an administrator.

Make sure 'my outgoing server requires authentication' is checked.

Outgoing port number 465 with SSL and 995 SSL checked

I did that. In addition, AT&T verified I'd set everything up correcty but it still doesn't work. I have to believe there is some type of glitch when using Outlook 2003 with both Vista & Win7 as it worked fine for years on my XP laptop.CandyM
