Outlook has operated fine for over a year, but after a power fluctuation last week, could not open Outlook. When trying to open Outlook 2007/Vista operating system, I get the following message:

Cannot start Microsoft Office Outlook. Cannot open the Outlook window. The set of folders cannot be opened. The file C:\Users\owner\AppData\Local]Microsoft\Outlook\Outlook.pst cannot be accessed. Data error (cyclic redundancy check).

You could try the following but will probably need to run chkdsk on the hard drive and scanpst to fix it. (CRC errors often indicate bad spots on the hard disk. )

Close Outlook. At the Start search field on Vista or Window7 Start menu or in the Start menu, Run command (Windows key + R), type

outlook.exe /resetnavpane

Then press Enter (or OK button) to restart Outlook.
