Hi

We have a Exchange 2010 organization in our domain. The Exchange 2007 migration is in the last phase (same mailboxes are left on the exchange 2007 mailbox server). I followed the MS migration guide, so every configuration is moved or upgraded.

Everything is working fine, except this problem: We are an Hungarian company so we using accentuated letters in our name. When the email policy is apply it change the accentuated letter to a normal letter. There is same cases when it change badly. For example the Ö letter is changed to OE witch is not good . In the exchange 2007 organization we have no problem with this, the Ö letter is changed to O.

Is there any PS command or configuration to fix this problem permanently?
The manual configuration is not an option because we have many users.

Regards

If you do not get any satisfactory answers, I would open a case with Microsoft support.

I would offer that its easy to change settings for mailboxes in bulk with Powershell by setting –EmailAddressPolicyEnabled:$false

and then scripting any changes you want to make in the future.

Perhaps you created an exception for this user in Exchange 2007; in Exchange 2007, is the Automatically update e-mail address based on e-mail address policy turned off for this user?

Another possibility is that you created a policy based on a different field than the one containing the accent and fixed that field in Exchange 2007 by editing that Ö into a O.

Reason I'm asking is because both in Exchange 2007 and Exchange 2010, Ö translates to "Oe" when using an e-mail address policy.

Hi,

We have the exact same problem as Imre. We have moved our users from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2010 SP1 and our existing e-mail address policies applied on the new server creates new mail addresses with AE for Ä and OE for Ö. (Both servers still co-exists, therefore the same policies apply to the organization.)

This is however not preferred way of creating the email addresses in Sweden and as stated by Imre, we did not have this issues with Exchange 2007, 2007 SP1 and 2007 SP2 (upgraded when SP was releaseed). Is there a way to choose how the Ä, Ö letters are translated and in that case can anybody point me to right direction.

Please give some feedback, this is really urgent to us.

Best regards,
Niklas Koskela
