hi,

after migration from Exchange 2003 to 2010, on ADSIEdit I found that my users' homeMTA attribute still points to the old exchange 2003 server.

is this normal or will it cause any issue? so far everything seems to work ok.

thanks.

ok thanks. so looks like you may potentially have issue only after you remove your old 2003 servers AND you still have Outlook 2003 users?

If it just a local move, then I'd like to explain when we will use this attribute.

When we have Exchange 5.5 in the orgnization, then Exchange 5.5 Servers use the MTA to communicate with each other though the RPC protocol. Exchange 2000/2003/2007/2010 will backward compatible and will use its own MTA to communicate with 5.5 Servers through RPC.

So if we do not have Exchange 5.5, I think we just can ingore it.

How does move mailbox really work?
