I have two untrusted forests (A and B), whereas A contains MSX 2003, MSX 2007 and MSX 2010 and B is a pure MSX 2010 environment. Both forest have on MSX 2010 HT/CAS/MB-multiserver. I ran through the procedure in http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb125182.aspx (Configure the Availability Service for Cross-Forest Topologies) without any error. (It is a non trusted forest setup).

- I imported the certificates from the 2010 CAS into the certificate store on the the other 2010 CAS in the other forest. I it possible to use OWA across the forest boundaries without getting any certificate warnings.

- I ran " test-outlookwebservices" on both CAS without any errors.

- There are only a few user who will need the availibility service we decided not to implement a ILM, but to create some contacts pointing to the accounts in the other forest.

If I try to read the free/busy-data of such a contact in OWA, I get the error message: " Unexpected error. The request could not be processed. Although I have set the logging level of the AS to " Expert" , there are no entries in the event log.

Does the AS only works with Contacts created with ILM (RecipientTypeDetails=MailForestContact)? Or where can I look for troubleshooting?

Thanks for your hints

Hi,

Please try to enable Outlook Logging, and reproduce this issue in Outlook, then collect the Free/Busy log under %temp%\olkas folder.

Thanks

Allen

Outlook 2010 generates a lot of logfiles, but here is the error message from a log file (20100914-122433517-fb.txt - I guess this stands for free/busy): " AvailabilityAddressSpace 'B.local' couldn't be used because the Autodiscover endpoint couldn't be discovered."

The fqdn autodiscover.B.local is resolvable und resolves to the CAS in Forest B.
