I have a very strange MS Outlook 2007 issue, I have Windows 7 32bit with MS office 2007. MS Outlook can sync with the exchange server and shows the status as up-to-date, but when I double click on any message or right click - reply, forward, properties etc; Outlook crashes and gives this error message 'Microsoft Office Outlook has stop working'.
So far I have run diagnose and repair, full Office 2007 reinstallation, created a new exchange ost file, removed all 'data files' from MS Outlook, deleted extend.dat file (someone suggested on the net), uninstalled AVG antivirus, disabled 3rd party add-ins, ran on safe mode, full windows update, emptied temp folder and recreated email profile but No Luck!

I would appreciate if you could please advise me if I am missing out anything here.
Many thanks in advance!

Hi,

Is this a single user problem or it happening to each user having windows 7, are there some event logs, & if you try configuring on other machine is the same issue occuring.

This is a single user problem, no problem on user's desktop machine though.

Hi,

Does the problem happen on another computer? If no, the problem should reside in the Windows profile. Try to create the domain account profile from the computer and then log into:

1. Copy the user's profile to another drive as a backup.

2. Right click Computer and choose properties.

3. In Advanced tab, click Settings under "User profiles".

4. Highlight the user account and choose delete.

Hi Gen Lin,

I have created a new user profile but the problem still persists. I have removed Office 2007 completely using revouninstaller (deleted all registry keys) and reinstall a fresh copy of Office 2007 but no luck. I have upgraded to Office 2010 but still no luck, uninstantiated Office 2010 and installed fresh copy but still no luck at all!!!

I have also tried installing on the D:\ drive but it would not work. I have disabled all Add-ins, tried to open in safe mode, deleted all old profiles and created a new profile but Outlook just wouldn't open for me. I have spent over 3 days trying to sort this problem out, now my only option is to FORMAT hard disk and reinstall a fresh copy of Win 7 and Office and see if I can get it working.

Regards,

OxSoz

Reinstalling clean Win 7 (32bit) seems to have solved the issue. I am still not sure why it wasn't working, seems like something to do with the system files, it would help if the error/corrupt files were shown!
