Hi everyone,

After our relatively painful upgrade to Exchange 2010 SP1 (from Exchange 2010 RTM) last week our users have discovered another problem. Messages to email-enabled public folders are getting dropped with the following NDR:

Delivery has failed to these recipients or groups:
Faxes (Faxes@anotherdomainweown.com) <mailto:Faxes@anotherdomainweown.com>
There's a problem with the recipient's mailbox. Please try resending the message. If the problem continues, please contact your helpdesk.

This happens whether we send to the public folders from internal or from external addresses. Help!

I've tried mail-disabling and then re-enabling the folders too but that had no effect.

I ran the repair request and that had no effect. Same error :(

Bueller?

Do I just need to delete my public folders and restore from backup? (I really hope there's a better answer than that)

Please check if the issue happens to all mail-enabled public folders

Please verify if the issue happens to the newly created mail-enabled public folder

Please check the following attributes of the problematic public folders

· homemdb

· mail

· mailnickname

· legacyexchangedn

Please verify if the public folder object deleted from MESO container after you mail-disabled the problematic public folders, and then mail-enable the folder again

I ended up deleting the public folder store, creating a new (empty) one, and restoring from backup. That resolved the problem for me.

I spoke too soon... the problem seems to be back.

James-Luo,

We are seeing the exact same problem here. homemdb, mail, mailnickname, and legacyexchangedn are all defined. On the problem folder(s).

Both new and old Public Folders also see this behavior.

Is there anything we can do to resolve this? Like Jason we also still have an Exchange 2007 server that also has a public folder store on it replicating with this one.

After a little investigation it turned out there was an additional Public Folder database that had been setup, but didn't have replicas yet. I'm not sure why Exchange was trying to deliver to this PF store, but at least it's easy to fix at that point.
