MobileMe e-mails marked for deletion in Outlook 2003 but will not actually delete

I've just installed MobileMe on a PC running XP and Outlook 2003. I have everything syncing between my PC, an iPod Touch, and the me.com website. Calendars and contacts work great. E-mail is syncing and new mail is populating in all three places (me.com, Touch, and Outlook) but I can not delete e-mails out of Outlook unless I initiate the delete command from the Touch. If I delete a message from me.com or from Outlook (using either the "X" command or dragging to the trash folder) the message goes gray, gets a strike-through, but will not actually go away. When I delete from me.com the message is deleted there and on the Touch but gray'd out and struck through in Outlook. Same situation when I delete from Outlook. When I delete from the Touch the message does in fact get deleted in all three places. I deleted and re-installed my me.com account in Outlook, set up a test account at me.com and Outlook (suggested by MobileMe support), yet the problem persists. Any thoughts?

Sounds like your e-mail is an IMAP account. You need to use the Edit->Purge command in Outlook to delete the grayed-out messages.

Hi Milly - you nailed it the first try!
