Anyone seen this in your mailbox move requests? This is between Exchange 2010 dbs (RU3).

I have seen this for a couple mailbox moves: (it looks much like this thread - http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/exchange2010/thread/edbb8a34-3d46-4e7e-b59e-ff6a8103192e?prof=required )

Error details: MapiExceptionNotFound: Unable to copy to target. (hr=0x8004010f, ec=-2147221233)

Error: MapiExceptionNotFound: Unable to copy to target. (hr=0x8004010f, ec=-2147221233)
Diagnostic context:
In my environment, this occurs between 2010 MBS servers in a DAG, with RU3 applied.

We currently have two 2008 R2 hosts dedicated for ICA, HTS, and MBS roles.

ICA and HTS have SP1 already applied. Btw,the 2003 -> 2010 migration is going well so far.

Tonight, we will apply SP1 to the MBS hosts and then I will attempt the mailbox moves again.

I havent seen the solution yet. For the two mailboxes I've seen this happen, it completes 95% of the move, then there's a mailbox lock or something which does not allow either the final delete, or cleanup phase of the move.

The user which recently failed was approx. 900MB and has a sizable deleted items folder ~350MB.

Here's the error details from the log:

Hi,

Try create new Mailbox Database on 2010 and see what happens.
Run Setup.com /preparedomain and setup.com /preparead

Post the result

Cheers,

Hi John,
I also run into some issues like yours, and has been escalated, Could you make a test as below:
Export the email to pst, and then import it again, and then do the moverequest.
Yet it is just a work around, I would also do some research about it.
You could open a ticket from MS, if it is urgent.
Regards!

Any update, here is something i have found just as an extra information.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2221826

What happens when you create new Mailbox Database, are you able to mount it than and there or not? Or it takes few minutes to mount it?

There isn't a permissions issue affecting this mailbox. 50+ mailboxes have moved from the same 2010 db to an adjacent db on another DAG host. We reran the setup prior to the SP1 installs. Now we're SP1 across MBS, HTS, and ICA hosts. The DAG is working normally for failover and replication. Migrations from 2003 -> 2010 continue to work without any trouble.

A single mailbox is affected by: MapiExceptionNotFound: Unable to copy to target. (hr=0x8004010f, ec=-2147221233

Can we avoid the pst export/import as a workaround ? This particular copy operation is basic and the mailbox replication service normally handles basic move requests.

Thanks for the suggestions and support.

Common Client Access Considerations for Outlook 2003 and Exchange 2010

http://blogs.technet.com/b/jribeiro/archive/2010/04/26/common-client-access-considerations-for-outlook-2003-and-exchange-2010.aspx

There are several scenarios for consideration when deploying Exchange Server 2010 into an environment where Outlook 2003 is used. Most of these scenarios have been documented prior to the product release and some applied to previous versions. However, in a review of support cases, we have found that they have not been used prior to contacting Microsoft.
But if you are using some Identity Manager this may help you.

Global Address List Synchronization Walkthrough: Administering the GAL Synchronization Infrastructure MISS or ILM or FIM

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc708674(WS.10).aspx

This applies to MISS

Administering the GAL synchronization scenario involves synchronizing changes to Active Directory data by using MIIS 2003. In this section, you perform the following operations:

Did you try to rebuild the GAL to check if that correct the error? Because the error regards to a missing object.

Or Re-check the security settings.

I think that what Gavin may be referring to (just guessing here) is an issue with mailboxes that may contain improperly formatted data and he wants to confirm that this is the same issue and the export import will validate this if it fails, however if it works then that of course is not the issue
Here check out this link for more information on the potential issue http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/exchange2010/thread/81e09d6e-1510-4357-b5d8-49a1ae7c734f If its the same issue then as per the post a fix is in progress OR if its urgent you can utilize Lucid8's DigiScope http://www.lucid8.com/product/digiscope.asp since a fix has been implemented in the tool since last year Troy Werelius

Make sure that Inheritance is not blocked on your mailbox.

inheritance is not blocked. I had to enable inheritance on mailboxes to move them from 2003 to 2010 awhile back.

The mailbox move request get to 95% and then fails.
