Share calendars without Microsoft Exchange

Not open for further replies.

My manager would like to share his outlook calendar with me. We do not operate under any exchange or servers.

Now tha we have done this - when I try and retrieve mail it comes up with a dialog box asking me to enter the user name and password to download the calendar. As, I do not have the password, I am clicking on the cancel key on this dialog box

A send/receive error is then displayed and if I click on the details tab this is what comes up:

Task 'Internet Calendar Subscriptions' reported error (0xCC5704C7) : 'Cannot verify or add the calendar to Outlook

or something like that.

I am also wondering if this calendar automatically updates when he updates his entries.

Thanks He has invited me, but it keeps on asking for his user name and password in a dialog box. I do not know this - for some reason I seem to be getting send/receive errors every since this happened? Also how can I ensure that I have the latest calendar info Cheers

It should be asking for your LiveID username and password. If you don't have a LiveID for the address he sent it to, you'll need to make one.

Once you get the calendar, it should be updated hourly, unless he set it to not update when he published it.

Hi, Thanks - that explains where I am going wrong, I thought I had to enter his Windows ID and Password. If I am understanding you correctly - I have to enter mine? If that is the case, how do I link my Windows ID with his and what does he have to do to get this to work. (I have a few Windows ID accounts) Thanks

You create a LiveID - he publishes the calendar and invites you - sending it to the address you use for your live id. You log in using your (invited) live id and can read his calendar.

Thanks - will give it a go and let you know if any problems ;-)
