setting a calendar as the default in Outlook 2007

Reading previous correspondence regarding setting a different calendar as the default in Outlook 2007, I read that the user " may be able" to set another calendar as default, but there are no instructions as to how to do this. I created a separate personal folders file, copied the calendar I wish to use as default (so I can sync both an iPhone and a Palm Treo to Outlook) to the new file, but have no idea how to make this new file the default. The Treo wouldn't sync to Outlook 2007 even with the conduits downloaded until I created a new calendar file, but that condemns me at the moment to sync to two different calendars from the two devices.

Outlook's default calendar is always the calendar folder outlook creates in the default message store (tools, account settings, data files). It can't be changed, other than by changing the default pst. You can't create a calendar folder and set it as default.

I discovered that by going to Tools, Account Settings and Data Files that it is possible to select a file as default. But when I switched the default to the file I wished to use for the iPhone and the Treo and synced the iPhone, the entire calendar on the iPhone was deleted, even though all of its contents were in the calendar file I had made the new default. Only by switching back to the original Outlook default was I able to retransfer the data to the iPhone.

SO: the iPhone will sync only to the Outlook default calendar, regardless of what I designate as the default Personal Folders file; and the Treo will sync only to a separate Palm Calendar file I created within the default Personal Folders file but then copied to a new Personal Folders file as per information I found on your website.

Is there nothing I can do to sync both phones to a single Outlook calendar file? This is very frustrating! Thanks for any and all help.

So if the Treo CANNOT sync with that default calendar and only syncs successfully with a separate calendar file that I have named " Palm Calendar" , that I simply CANNOT solve the problem!? I worked with a Palm technician for at least six hours to try to solve this problem. It was IMPOSSIBLE to sync the Treo to Outlook's default calendar, to which the iPhone syncs successfully. We uninstalled and reinstalled the Palm program and the 2007 Outlook conduits three times. There were always error messages when trying to sync with Outlook's calendar until we created a separate calendar file within the Personal Folders file. Then the sync with the Treo went perfectly. But I cannot get the iPhone to sync to that calendar. I copied Palm Calendar to a new RL Personal Folders file, where the data from the Treo is accurately contained. But when I used Tools>Account Settings>Data Files and designated my RL Personal Folders file as the default file and synced with the iPhone, I lost ALL CALENDAR DATA on the iPhone. I got it back by redesignating the Personal Folders file originally generated by Outlook as the default. So the Treo sync is orphaned again. Is there no way out of this morass? Thanks in advance for any help!

PS To make it clear, I DID change the default .pst (from Personal Folders to the new file I created, RL Personal Folders, to which I copied the calendar file designated Palm Calendar. This did NOT work, as mentioned in my previous message. Thanks.
