Unable to reply or send emails from Outlook 2007

The last couple of days, I have been unable to reply or send new emails from my Outlook 2007. I am able to reply to emails if I start it in Safe Mode though. The other responses to a similar issue say that if this happens, then there is a setting in my antivirus that would be causing the problem. Thats all fine and dandy, except my husband is able to reply and send emails from his email account without issue. So I can't believe it has anything to do with the antivirus program (Norton Internet Security) because it lets his go through, just not mine. I checked my account settings, and it works fine; it sends a test message fine and I receive it without issue. Do you have any other suggestions as to what the source of my problem is and how do I fix it?

If it works when you're in safe mode, then one of your add-ins is interfering. Open the Trust Center (Tools>Trust Center>Add-Ins) and disable all your add-ins. Then stop and restart Outlook. Test again. If it works, enable one of the add-ins, stop and restart. Test again. Continue in this fashion and you should eventually find the add-in causing the problem.

The fact that your husband's mail works does not indicate that the antivirus isn't the cause. Symantec's products have a long history of not playing well with Outlook.

What type of account is configured in Outlook? E.g. POP/IMAP/Exchange

Do you get any error message while send/receive of messages?

As you have stated you are able to reply to emails in Outlook safe mode then try disabling add-ins to check if this helps.

Refer the link below to know how to disable add-ins:

http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/help/enable-or-disable-add-ins-in-office-programs-HA010034127.aspx

If you are still unable to send or reply to emails even after disabling add-ins then start Outlook in Windows clean boot mode and then try to send or reply emails.

Note: Ensure to restart computer to normal mode once troubleshooting is completed.

I tried this, but it won't let me disable them all. Even though I am an administrator, it tells me it can only be disabled by an administrator.

My email configuration is POP/SMTP. I do not get any error message....it just shows it " thinking" for a second or two, then it doesn't do anything.

You need to run outlook as an administrator. find outlook.exe, right click and choose run as admin.

Any error messages? Does your husband use the same windows account you use or doesn't he have his own windows user account?

No error messages. It just shows it's " thinking" for a second or two, then it doesn't. Nothing happens with the screen. He has his own windows account.

Send an email to yourself. Watch the outbox to see the email passing through it (it might be quick). The easy way to see this is to make the outbox a favorite folder (presuming you use Favorite Folders)

I tried to do that already when I was testing out each suggestion above......I can't even send an email to myself! The only email I can send is a test message through the account setttings window.

I'm guessing something is messed up with the install on your user account. Have you tried detect & repair or reinstall?

What is detect and repair? Why would it do this all of a sudden.....I've been using Outlook for years???

UPDATE: I uninstalled my Outlook, then reinstalled it. To my surprise it didn't fix my issue. However, I did notice that all my folders and settings were still there......so I'm not sure what happened. Does anyone have any further advise?????? I'm totally confused and frustrated with this situation!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do your husband and you use the same email service provider eg gmail yahoo or perhaps your own domain name. In either case, using the web mail option, try testing the email service from there.

My husband and I use the same program - Outlook - both set up to send/receive emails through our cable company. I have never had an issue until recently and nothing seems to be repairing the issue; yet he continues to send emails without a hitch..........ARGH I can send test messages through Outlook, but I cannot create a new email and send it, or reply to an email I received (FYI - I have no issues receiving the email).

uninstalling doesn't remove the profile. Go to tools, account settings and select your account then click change folders - select a different folder and apply, then fo back in and change it back to the Inbox.

Thank you Diane, but I am not wanting to change profiles, I am wanting to get my Outlook to allow me to send and reply to emails again! I can send a test message from the account settings and I can send/reply via the website for my cable company (and my husband has had no issues with using his outlook to send/reply to his emails) but I cannot send a new email or reply to one via my Outlook anymore. The only time it works is if I start Outlook in " safe mode" , but I know I can't do that everytime. It doesn't work even after turning off all the add-ins, and uninstalling the program and then reinstalling it.........not sure what to do anymore except find another program if Outlook won't work.........
