Hi There,

I have purchased a new laptop on Sat 13th and it is running Windows 7 64bit, I have installed Office 2010 32 bit Home and Business. I have installed latest version of Outlook Connector downloaded from Microsoft.

I imported my PST back up from my XP and Outlook 2003 install on my old laptop. I had an account with a POP3 SMTP set up and my Hotmail account. On my old laptop I also had a version of the Outlook Connector installed and my mail worked perfectly.

On my new Win7 laptop I have not been able to get Outlook to sync with my Hotmail account successfully, I got some emails down on the Saturday but since I have not been able to get sync happening.

I have tried removing the Hotmail account and then Outlook Connector and then reinstalling the connector, no improvement. I have tried removing the Hotmail account and Connector and then repairing Office from the disc - no improvement. I have tried turning off my anti-virus and firewall, I have also added Hotmail to safe domain lists.

I have deleted safe senders and blocked sender"s lists from both Hotmail and Outlook but no improvement. I have tried everything I can think of and some of the tips from various forums but there is no improvement.

Essentially the Send and Receive dialogue shows all processes complete including Hotmail Sending except Hotmail receive which just says processing and this is the status it keeps for hours.

I have taken a look at the sync logs and copied below an extract from one transmission attempt.

Any assistance would be appreciated; this problem is driving me nuts!

Thanks,

Cameron

Do you have large files (over about 3 - 4 MB) in outlook that could be trying to sync? Try moving them the a local pst and see if it works.

For future reference, when you move computers you don't need to export/import the pst, just copy it to the new computer and open it in Outlook. The only exception is when its a pst created in Outlook 2002 or older format (ANSI) - those should be imported.

The error would suggest a server-side issue. Can you determine at which message it might get stuck during the sync process (usually it would be the first message that didn't get downloaded). Delete this message or move it to another folder and see if it syncs now.

Hi Dianne,

Thanks for taking the time to respond. I have checked all my emails, there aren't any large one in there. Also since this has been ongoing for nearly a week now I have been using my hotmail account via the browser and deleting emails etc that way but it has made no difference to the syncing.

Thanks for the tip on PST's if this fault causes me to blow away outlook and reinstall I will follow this process.

Cheers,

Cameron

Hi Robert,

Again, thanks for replying. As I mention above I have been using my hotmail account via the browser and deleting, moving emails around and this had had no impact on the syncing issue.

Nothing has changed with my Hotmail account and it was working perfectly with Outlook 2003 and the associated connector so it shouldn't be a hotmail account issue. Also I wouldn't have thought Hotmail itself would be having major issues like this for an extended period of time so I have ruled out issues with the Hotmail environment.

I think this is a connection and syncing issue with the current version of Outlook Connector and possibly a problem within outlook itself.

Any further advice would be appreciated.

thakns,

Cameron
