I've got my Gmail set up in Outlook 2010. It appears as a tree ("myemail_AT_gmail.com") separate from my Outlook Data File tree, with its own Inbox and all.
I click "Send/Receive". It takes a while to finish.
But the messages don't appear anywhere.
But, if I select the folder myemail_AT_gmail.com, like if I wanted to see its contents, then even if I don't click Send/Receive the messages from my Gmail account appear in Outlook, and the Rules move them to their folders!
Is that how I should "check for new mail"? To click the "myemail_AT_gmail.com" folder as if I wanted to see its contents, only to watch the little message "Fetching new messages" get completed and the emails be moved to my local folders under the Outlook Data File tree?
