Outlook 2010 using incorrect date/time received on imported IMAP e-mails.

I previously had an IMAP G-Mail account setup in Outlook 2003 & Outlook 2010 on two separate computers.

Using Gmail"s POP-Import tools, I imported all AOL emails in to my G-mail account.

Only for those newly imported emails:

Outlook 2010 is using the imported " Date/Time" for all imported emails.

Outlook 2003 has the original (correct) Date/Time received on imported emails.

G-mail"s website has the original (correct) Date/Time received on imported emails.

I tried in:

Outlook 2010 -

Completely deleting the IMAP g-mail account and setting it up again, but Outlook 2010 still re-downloaded the incorrect date/time on the imported emails.

Outlook 2003 –

Completely deleting the IMAP g-mail account and setting it up again, and Outlook 2003 re-downloaded the original (correct) date/time received on the imported emails.

Is there a fix Outlook 2010 so that it downloads the correct date/time received for the newly imported emails?

Thank You

Hi,

when you have a new message up and you display the From address it shows the POP account?

What happens if you remove the POP account from the profile and then try?

If it's correct, you could then try to re-add the POP account to the profile.

Sincerely,

Harry

The date/time being displayed depends on the date, time, timezone and DST settings of the computers that are involved; sender, receiver and mailservers.

Check if the date/time on the other computer is the same as yours.

Thank You for your response.

The date/time zone on both computer are exactly the same.

Outlook 2010 is using is the date/time that the emails were “transferred” from the AOL server to the G-Mail server, not the “original” receive date of the emails.

Both Outlook 2003 and the G-Mail server show the “original” receive date of the emails.

If I add the G-Mail account on a different computer using Outlook 2003, the “original” receive date of the emails is displayed. Just as they show on the G-Mail server.

If I add the same G-Mail account on a different computer using Outlook 2010, the “AOL/Gmail transfer date” is displayed as the recieve date on the emails.

For some reason Outlook 2010 uses the date that the G-Mail server received the emails, not their original receive dates.

Thank You

I"m a Computer Consultant and I have run into this problem over and over again syncing Gmail using Outlook 2007 or Outlook 2010 for clients.

This problem is not limited to AOL/G-Mail.

If G-Mail imports older messages from any source, Outlook 2010 and Outlook 2007 will use the “import date” as the date “Received” for the messages, even though the messages will display the correct message received date on the G-Mail website.

Oddly enough Outlook 2003 will also show the correct message received date.

This issue can easily be duplicated simply by importing any old messages into Gmail and then syncing Gmail using Outlook 2007 or Outlook 2010, however Microsoft seems to have no interest in fixing this issue.
