I have recently created a new user with a new mailbox on my exchange 2010 server (Windows 2008 R2) , the user did not show in the GAL but only in all users , the user can access his mailbox fine through OWA , but when we try to connect to outlook 2007 we get the error message " The Name cannot be matched to a name in the address list" when i try to force GAL to update using power shell i got the following

{[PS] C:\Windows\system32>Update-GlobalAddressList -Identity " Default Global Address List" -Domaincontroller " Exchange2010"

WARNING: The recipient " Egytrav.local/Microsoft Exchange System Objects/Schedule+ Free Busy Information - First Administrative Group" is invalid and couldn't be updated.

WARNING: The recipient " Egytrav.local/Microsoft Exchange System Objects/Offline Address book - \/o=new

egytrav\/cn=addrlists\/cn=oabs\/cn=De" is invalid and couldn't be updated.

[PS] C:\Windows\system32>}

I checked everything that could cause this problem but failed to find any reason, this happen only few days ago since a week i have created a new user & mailbox without any problem , so i tried to check windows recent update & i found that there was update since 5 days is there any possibility that one of these updates mis any setting in security & permission to cause this problem?

Please Help, this is urgent

Hi Marwa,

mail-disable the public system folder for the free busy informations.

After this you should be able the update the GAL again...

Best regards

Hi,

You can open Public Folder Management Console, then expand System Public Folders, find the relevant entry for Egytrav.local, then try to remove it.

After that, please check this issue.

Hi,

Whether all the new users have this issue or just one new user?

Please use ADSI Edit tool to locate the problematic new user, then right click it and select the Properties, find the showInAddressBook attribute, then post the values here.

Thanks

Hi,

For the new users, are they created on the new mailbox database? Did you associate the mailbox database with the Default Offline Address Book?

You can check the msExchUserOAB attribute on the Database. Additionally, I suspect this issue is related to the OAB issue. Please improve the Diagnostic logging of the OAB, then update the Default Offline Address Book, then check the event log.

Thanks

Hi,

Be default, the OAB is updated daily at 5:00 AM, you can check the Schedule under the Default Offline Address Book.

Now please first delete the OAB files under the shared OAB folder in Mailbox server, then delete the OAB files in the CAS, next update the Default Address Book, check the OAB files are generated under the Shared OAB folder, and restart the Microsoft Exchange File Distribution service, the OAB files will be copied to CAS from the Mailbox server.

Restart IIS, and check this issue.

Thanks

Dear Marmar,
You can consider to enable registry key for further checking, please remember to turn it off after diagnostic.

-Select My Computer\HKEY_Local_Machine\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSExchangeSA\Diagnostics\”13 OAL Generator”, change the value from “0” (Disable) to “7” Full diagnostic.

Hi All,

I guess i have somthing new i have run this command

get-oabvirtualdirectory | ft internalurl

& i got this answer

https://mydomain/oab

it was not my internal domain , it was my external domain

when i tried to browse to this URL i got this error

I fixed the internal URL

but still unable to browse & when i try to download OAB on outlook i got this message

" Task " Microsoft Exchange " reported error (0x8004010f): The operation failed . An object cannot be found"

is this mean the OAB is lost?

if so how can i update without errors?

Hi,

Please press Ctrl+right click Outlook icon in System Tray, uncheck both of the Guessmart options, click Test button, could you get the OAB URL under Results Tab?

Additionally, please run test-Outlookwebservices |fl command in EMS, then post the results here.

Thanks

Okay, its been very long time you guys have been working on this issue. Let fix it by trying this
*One more thing is, make sure that on the CAS server you don't have Web.Config file in the .LZX file location
If above doesn't work follow below
Create the new OAB and associate with Mailbox Database and Point the new OAB to the Database.

Restart the MS Exchange FDS and System Attendant Service.
Update the New OAB
Check if the LZX files are generated in OAB shared folder on Mailbox Server and CAS Server

I am sure it should fix the issue

Hi,

Sorry for the delay response.

On your CAS server goto C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\Client Access\OAB" folder and and right-click web.config and open properties->Security tab and give Authenticated Users both the read and read-and-execute permissions. Run iisreset /noforce on the CAS server and then check the issue.

Thanks
