Where can I see incomming POP3 connections?

I have a CRM application that retrieves mail via POP3. It works properly on Exchange 2003 but not on Exchange 2010. An Outlook 2007 client installed on the CRM server works correctly via POP3, and the CRM application is configured identically.

It appears that the connection between the CRM and Exchange 2010 server is closed prematurely. I set POP3 logging to high but didn't see anything in the message tracking log.

Is there a way to view the connection in the Exchange logs to see which side is closing the connection?

Thanks.

David.

Message tracking will not show anything as that is for email flow, not connections.
You will need to enable logging on the POP3 server.

The set-popsettings is the command that you need, and the example on this page shows how to enable the log and set the location. Restart Transport after making the change for it to be effective.

Would this mean Exchange is dropping the connection immediatly?

Thanks,

That looks to me like your application isn't doing a correct POP3 handshake for whatever reason. Exchange is quite picky about things like that - it is very close to the RFC standards for both POP3 and SMTP, and that can cause problems with other services that are not quite so precise.

The only other thing it could be is AV or something getting in the way.

Unfortunately that's what I was thinking. With this vendor I wouldn't be surprised.
Thanks for the help.
