HI,

I have setup my exchange envirnoment acording to Henrik Walther here http://www.msexchange.org/articles_tutorials/exchange-server-2010/high-availability-recovery/designing-site-resilient-exchange-2010-solution-part1.html?printversion . The only difference I have on my design is that I have only one cas array address called " casarray.domain.int" . At the moment both my clustered mbx servers are in the same active directory site. however one of the servers is going to be moved to a different active directory site.

Do I need o setup another cas array address whent this happens,or can i use the one i have and change the ip address of of the casarray.domain.x to point to the secondary site if my primary goes down?

I dont really understand why the second cas array is needed in henriks design, or how do the failover would happen for Outlook to a differernt cas address if an Outlook user in the primary site was trying to connect to cas server in backup site? Or is this just the case if the outlook client is actually located in the backup site that it uses the second cas array address??

you will need at least one CAS server in the DR site. when failure occurs you will update the DNS to point to the CAS array in the DR site.Regards, Mahmoud Magdy Watch Arabic Level 300 Videos about Exchange 2010 here: http://vimeo.com/user3271816 Read pretty advanced Exchange stuff I post here: http://www.enowconsulting.com/ese/blog.asp, follow my blog: http://autodiscover.wordpress.com , corp blog: http://ingazat.wordpress.com, Follow me on twitter http://www.twitter.com/_busbar and if you Liked my post please mark it as helpful and accept it as an answer

Yes thanks Busbar,

I have a CAS server in my DR site and I had intended to just change the IP address for the casarray to point to cas server in dr site in event of failure in primary site (my ttl is set to 5mins for casarray.domain.x)

But my question was Henrik has a seperate cas name in the dr site and was wondering why he needed a second cas array. Is it only used if the Outlook client was logging in on the DR subnet?

the CAS array in site B for users homed on site B, also because you can change the RPCCLIENTACCESSSERVER to point to that array so different options. but same results.Regards, Mahmoud Magdy Watch Arabic Level 300 Videos about Exchange 2010 here: http://vimeo.com/user3271816 Read pretty advanced Exchange stuff I post here: http://www.enowconsulting.com/ese/blog.asp, follow my blog: http://autodiscover.wordpress.com , corp blog: http://ingazat.wordpress.com, Follow me on twitter http://www.twitter.com/_busbar and if you Liked my post please mark it as helpful and accept it as an answer
