Attachments in archive

When I search my outlook archive for messages, some show that they have an attachment with it. However, when I open up the message I can not find the attachment. Does that mean that the attachment did not get archived? Is there a way to find the attachment?

I'm using Outlook 2010 but the message was archived while on Outlook 2003.

The attachments are part of the messages, so no, archiving didn't remove them. Do the messages have embedded images? They show up as attachments (as they are attached) but are not shows in the attachment field once outlook renders the message.




To see the hidden attachments, switch outlook to read in plain text (File, Options, Trust Center) - this will display the attachment as an attachment and you can see what it is.
 
Thanks for your reply. It turns out they were images inbedded in the message and that's why they were showing as attachments. Thank You.
