Deleting e-mails: 10,ooo in inbox ; can't access ? ? ?

I have over 10,000 ! ! ! e-mails in my inbox, so desperately need to clean out ! BUT, I can't find them to delete ... H U H ???? I am a total novice at anything PC related ( as you can , no doubt, already tell ! ) , so my guesses are that some setting has been made or triggered automatically to archive ( I DO HAVE on a periodic Auto-archive task) old e-mails or compress them or something along these lines ????? The problem is that my viewable inbox only goes back a week or two , and when I view by "FROM" each senders mails only have five, maybe ten -- maximum -- mails that I can access. SO THE PROBLEM IS THERE ARE 9,800 E-MAILS THAT ARE IN MY INBOX, BUT INACCESSIBLE ....t least inaccessible to THIS RANK NOVICE !!! H E L P , please, with some enlightening guidance !!

What version of Outlook? Are you using a view that hides read messages? You can check for the View in use on the Views menu. If i know the outlook version i can give more specific instructions.

You could also try searching for them - put an a in the search field and you should find all of them.

It's an OLD ONE -- OUTLOOK 2003 !
 
Go to View, Arrange By, Current view (at the bottom of the menu) - what view is selected? Select Messages from the list - does you see the missing mail?




Click on the row of field names at the top of the message list and choose Custom then Reset.
