Unable to send email to gmail - using Outlook 2007

I tried using gmail for a while a few months back...at which time I stopped opening Outlook 07. I decided gmail was not my cup of tea and began using Outlook once more.

But since closing my gmail account I have not been able to successfully send an email to any gmail account. The owner of a company I work with has gmail and we have successfully sent and received fine over the years. But now he does not receive anything I send him even though it appears in my "Sent" folder and I never receive any email telling me there was a problem.

I tried using his wife's gmail account for a test letter, but that did not come through either.

How do I troubleshoot this problem? Thanks for any help you can provide me with.
 
Gosh, that is a tough one. Without an NDR, its hard to tell what is wrong.




What antivirus/security software do you use? Is it scanning the email you send? (Some of the software blocks mail to certain mail providers.)




Try opening Outlook in Safe mode - can you send mail to gmai? If it works, its definitely an addin - probably antivirus - causing the problem. (Hold Ctrl as you click on the Outlook icon to start in Safe mode.)
 
Thanks for the reply. I am able to send to gmail...or it appears to send. I tried a test letter in safe mode as you prescribed. I will now know until tomorrow if it was received.

Not sure how to detect if my anti-virus (Avast and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware) is scanning outgoing mail. But I have had those programs in for a couple of years and have never changed their settings...and remember that I was able to send to gmail successfully around two months ago.

I was just wondering if I inadvertantly did something when cancelling my own gmail account that caused this.

But thank you for your reply. I will post tomorrow yea or nay about whether it got through.
 
Well it seems I was able to send it to gmail when I opened Outlook in safe-mode.

What do I do now? How do I find what safe-mode disabled? At least I know I can do it in safe-mode...that is a huge leap forward.
