How do you enable Contacts' Activities to search archive folders (.pst files) in Outlook 2010? Thanks

The ability to configure Activities was removed from outlook 2010. If the contact is in the archive, it should work on the items in the archive folder.

If you have the people pane enabled, it should return results from all pst files in the profile. If its not finding the items, verify the pst is enabled for searching on the Search tab, Search tools, Locations to search. (Click in the Search field to enable the Search tab.)

Thanks for this. I do have the People Pane enabled, however I don't have a 'Search' tab. Should this be visible on the left hand side, along with All Items, Activities etc? In which case, how can I enable the Search tab? Many thanks...

Hi there - sorry not quite getting this....I am trying to find the 'Search' tab, in an email that I have opened, that Slipstick Administrator mentions above.


This is so that I can verify the pst is enabled for searching (which is my goal here). Slipsick Administrator says "on the Search tab, Search tools, Locations to search. (Click in the Search field to enable the Search tab.)" Help? Many thanks!

At the top of the message list is a box that says "Search Inbox (Ctrl+E)" click in it or press Ctrl+E. This will open the Search tab on the ribbon where you can check the folders being searches on the search tools button.

Ok I have learned something new and now found the "Search" tab which I see is only revealed if and when you put your cursor in the Search box itself - I had been trying to find this within an open email in the People Pane area(!).


Also I realise I completely mistook Slipstick's instructions thinking they were the instructions to solve my original problem, despite Slipstick stating that the ability to configure Activities was removed from Outlook 2010(!). Didn't pick up the slight shift in topic....But I have learned something new so thanks for that! Have a great day :-)
