Form design - how do I insert an automatic date/time field?

Outlook 2010 32 bit

I'm designing a simple message form in Outlook, that needs an automatic date/time stamp. I've set up a field as follows (following some instructions I found on the Internet):-
(Value tab in Properties)

Field Type: Date/Time

Format: Wed 13/04/2011 10:48

Property to use: Value

Initial Value: (box ticked)

Set the value initial value of this field to: NOW

Selected "Calculate this formula automatically"

However, when I run the form, and try to send it, I get the following error message:-
The data you entered for "Sent" is not valid.

I wonder if anyone could help? (I can't find this error message on the Internet, which is somewhat unusual.) What am I doing wrong - this is driving me mad?!

PS. I can't use code, it's just beyond me. So I'm hoping there's a simple answer to this!
 
Someone just kindly sent me this:- http://www.outlook-tips.net/howto/date_stamp.htm - thanks very much, but it puts the date in the body of the message, and not in the area outside it, which is where I need it!

(Sorry to reply to my own message, but this forum doesn't seem to give me the facility to be able to edit it??)
 
Re: editing. Editing is available for the first 10 min or so, then its disabled. This is to prevent people from coming back months later and changing the post so the replies make no sense. A reply is better any way - it bumps the message to the top of the list so it doesn't get lost as easily.

The created date field won't work for this purpose?
