Foreign Accents in Outlook 2003 Tasks, notes and Calendar

Using Word as my email editor, I have no problem using keyboard shortcuts for entering French accents (eg: é using ctrl + ' + e) in emails. However, the same shortcuts don't work when trying to enter accents in Tasks, etc - for instance, the shortcut above gives è instead of é.

Am I stuck with using using Character Map, Alt + a 4 digit code, or is there a quicker way?

I was ready to say "that's odd, both use Word as the editor" when i noticed the 2003 part. :) Tasks uses the Outlook editor and I don't think you can change the character set it uses, but that is what you need to look at. On the other hand... my outlook 2003 works as you wish, correct?

If my outlook 2003 is what you want- check your keyboard language in control panel and also the font settings in an open task - Format, Font menu. You can change the default in Outlook's tools, options, mail format, fonts. I'm using Arial, western script, us english keyboard.
 
Apologies for the delay in replying - I've been away. My problem is that I am a UK English speaker living in France and generally use English and UK keyboard, but occasionally need to write notes in French and add French address etc. It's no big deal to live with things as they are, I can always insert accents using character map or Ctrl +, it's just that I was hoping for an easy solution on the lines of the Word shortcuts!
 
It something with your setup - not sure if its the uk keyboard or something else tough. Do you have the language toolbar in your tray? you can use that is swap out languages, which might (or might not) help. I only have US keyboard and US englisg installed as i can play oaround with the settings to see what affects it.
