Finding deleted contact from shared folder.

I have a situation where a user with shared access to another users contact folder, deletes a contact, but the deleted contact item is not in the delete folder of the person who deleted it. Where does such an item go?
 
Did you use Search to verify its not there? (the folder sometimes sorts by created date so old items can easily be lost)

Did you check the deleted folder in the shared account? (All deleted items would go in the folder owners deleted folder - it requires a reg hack to enable and the user needs write access to the owners deleted folder).

Did the user use Shift + Delete?

Are you using Exchange and if so, did you check deleted item recovery?
