Rule to move BCC email to a folder

I have a POP email account and Blackberry (not exchange or BES) and want to have a copy of my Blackberry messages be stored in my sent items folder in Outlook. So in my ATT blackberry internet service, I setup to have a BCC copy of all messages sent to an email account I call sentmail@my domain.com. Then in Outlook I have tried a couple of rules to try to send this BCC email into my sent items folder, but it is not working. Does not appear that Outlook has a built-in rule to handle email sent as a BCC.

Does any one know an automated way to move a BCC message into a folder. I am open to anything an add-in, custom code, software . . . .

You can't make a rule for BCC - you can make a rule where your address does not appear in the to or cc field. It might work best if the blackberry sent messages have a unique string in the header so you casn use a rule that say

'sentmail not in the to or cc and header contains words'.
 
The issue is blackberry only has an option to Auto BCC is does not have an option to auto To or CC to another address. Also, while Outlook has an option to hide your address so does not appear in the to or cc field, Blackberry does not have this option. So not sure how or if I can implement your suggestion.

Can you explain a little more, or do have another option based on my comments?

Outlook does not have a rule for BCC - by its nature, its a blind copy and the envelope is removed when the server accepts it. You have no way of knowing if you were BCC'd or bulk mailed - the only thing you can filter on is your address not in the to or cc field- of course, this gets all mail where you name is not in those fields, include mailing lists, bulk mail, spam etc. If the BB adds something specific to the message header, you could filter on 'not in the to or cc field and message header contains certain words'. I'll test it with my own BB and see if i can figure something out. Using the words in the body ("sent from my blackberry") would work to qualify the messages that should be filtered.




My address not in the header and words in the body... do whatever.

I thought about creating a rule that filters "Sent from my Blackberry" but then if a person replies to a Blackberry message that reply will go into the sent mail folder, and that is not desired.

Also, I see where I can setup a rule so that if my name is not in the To: field I can move email to a folder but how do I set up a rule to filter on

-'not in the to or cc field or

- 'not in the to or cc field and message header contains certain words'and message header contains certain words'
 
Use exceptions... has bb in the body, except if my name is in the to or cc.

you definately need two conditions to do the rule and you'l still risk some false positives (if people BCC you with the bb signature in the body) bb_rules.png
