Toshiba Laptop; Vista 32 bit; OL 2007; MS Security Essentials; 1.5 Gb PST file; Ten days ago outgoing email returns error in title. Periodically, it will work. Went into MS Sec Essentials and exempted the documents folder and it works for 5 or so emails then reverted to error again. Have tried the following: sending messages through two ISP accounts RCN. com and Gmail. com with same result; compacted PST; run scanpst; removed MS Sec Essentials; exempted documents from Windows Defender after removing Security Essentials; removed most Add-Ons; and changed many other settings. If I go to documents, right click and click send email the attachment does attach and will go. I also use syncing net to keep two other desktops synced with this laptop. Am considering upgrading to Win 7 but afraid to until issue is resolved. Would remove OL 2007 and reinstall but it doesn't seem to be its problem.

Security Essentials is unlikely to be the problem - they don't scan email. I don't think a reinstall will fix it -it rarely fixes problems. Same for upgrading - the problem is likely to follow, although a new install might fix it, if the problem software is not reinstalled.




Does it work if you use safe mode? (Hold Ctrl as you click on the Outlook icon to start in Safe mode.)


What exactly do you mean by 'error in title'?


If you disable syncing.net, does it work?

Thanks for the reply, Diane. I answered this earlier but must not have done it correctly or entered the Image Verification correctly as it hasn't been posted.




1. It reacts the same way in safe mode.


2. The error in the title is "The system cannot find the file specified" which comes in a drop down box after attachments are added and send/receive executed. If I click on an attachment before sending it cannot find it to open it but gives a different message indicating an inability to comply. It's as if the attachment doesn't work. If I go to My Documents, choose one, right click on it and select "send email" it works fine. If I click on the attachment after this method prior to sending it opens.


3. Through Task Master I have killed the processes related to syncing net and it still won't work. I'm out of town and haven't tried uninstalling it yet.

"it's as if the Attachment Icon in OL2007 doesn't work"
