fix for Helvetica crasing Outlook 2010?

Hi all,

I am a new Office Professional/Outlook 2010 user, and just went through the pain of finding out that Helvetica (True Type 1) crashes Outlook. I am a desktop publisher and rely heavily on this font. I know that there is a beta fix by MS, and I've found the page that lists the various fix files, but am not clear on which to download and install. All I want is to be pointed to the correct fix exe.

I am a big Adobe user, very much into fonts.

I am running Windows 7 on a 64-bit machine, and a 32-bit version of Office.

You need the hotfix in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2459114 (their system is down right now tho). You need the 32-bit version of the hotfix because you are using the 32 bit version of Office.
 
Thanks, I've already been to that page. So that would be this file? :

Word2010-kb2459114-fullfile-x86-glb.exe

I just am not very good at decoding what they are saying on that page. That's why I came here.

And, is there a direct link to the page with the file? The only other way I can find the actual exe is to google it, but it'd be lovely if I could download it from microsoft themselves.

That is the correct file for your version. I recommend using the Request hotfix link at the top of the page- it points to http://support.microsoft.com/hotfix/KBHotfix.aspx?kbnum=2459114&kbln=en-us. Microsoft will send you an email with a link to the download.




I do notice one thing that is not correct - its offering the 64bit update - i have windows 64 bit but outlook 32 bit on this computer and should be offered the 32bit. Clicking "Show hotfixes for all platforms and languages (2)" displays both files.
 
So thenthe file I want is word2010kb2459114fullfilex86glb, correct? It's the "86" that throws me off.
