Outlook 2010 won't launch after installin Microsoft office 2010 service pack 1

I installed Office 2010 service pack 1 today and after installing it Outlook 2010 hangs at the launch screen where it says "loading profile". It does not hang totally, I am able to hit the cancel test in the lower right corner that most people probably never even notice since you don't ever need to use it if Outlook finishes booting.

Any suggestions?

this is after it installs and you are starting outlook after a reboot? Try a new profile (with one account if you have multiple accounts) or safe mode - if it loads, its probably a corrupt file, not a bad update.




Hold Ctrl as you click on the Outlook icon to start in Safe mode.




If a new profile or safe mode works, my first guess is a corrupt navigate pane file.




Close Outlook. At the Start search field on Vista or Windows7 Start menu or in the Start menu, Run command (Windows key + R), type




outlook.exe /resetnavpane




Then press Enter (or OK button) to restart Outlook.




Note: Make sure there is a space between the words.
