Missing outloook journal entry pop up windows

Hello:

I was told by one of my co-workers that everytime he moved the mouse pointer to a journal task a pop up windows used to show up with all the journal's details.

Now it's gone.

Is there any option to accomplish this?

Is he using the same view as before? Which view is it? It sounds like autopreview but not all views offer it.

I don't know.

He has outlook 2010 and told me that before upgrading from outlook 2007 he could see this pop up window.

I am making some testing in my outlook 2007 and I cannot find a way for that window to pop up by only moving the mouse pointer.

Same here - i checked before i replied and can't get more than the usual screentips - that's why i wondered what view. The screentip popup will display most or all of the fields in the view, depending on the view.

Ok this person just told me that he used to be able to see the pop up windows in outlook 2003,not 2007.

What you did to make that pop up window show?

Users... gotta love 'em.




I can't repro any pop up in 2003 either - other than the screentip.




The popup I can get is a screentip - add the fields you want to see to a list view then if they don't display fully in list view, the fields are included in the screentip. (that's why i have the column with the list in it narrow in the screenshot)

I am using the "By Type" current view.

that's a time line view, correct? i was using a list view, such as you'd normally use for email.

That is a list view. To see the popup i posted, turn on the reading pane so the row is short.




did they say if they saw all the fields as in my screen shot or just the notes field? if the Notes field in in the view, hovering over it in your screenshot would display a popup.




Here are two screenshots - one with the reading pane enabled and the 2 line 'compact' list view and one with the traditional list view (like your screenshot), with the Notes field added to the view. When you hover over the notes field, it displayed in the popup because its too long for the field.

I think I'm going to tell this user to learn to live with it

that sounds like a good choice - in my experience, users often forget (or mis-remember) exactly what worked in older versions.
