I'm running Outlook 2010 on Windows 7 on a new laptop. I can't make Outlook remember my email account password. When I go to my User Account and try to manage credentials it tells me I do not have permission to save files to that location even though I am Administrator and logged on on as administrator.
 
What type of email account do you use? Oh wait...i forget we're now asking for account type at registration. <g> Assuming this is for a POP3 account...


1. It could be a corrupt profile. Make a new profile and see it works.


2. It could be a corrupt pst. Run scanpst on it and try again.


3. It could be an addin - Try opening Outlook in Safe mode. (Hold Ctrl as you click on the Outlook icon to start in Safe mode.)




I'd try #3 first - its easiest.




On the credential manager part - what type of user account do you use to log into windows? Is that the exact error message and at what point do you get it?
