Junk Folder not operating

My 2007 Junk folder stopped working, meaning spam is not going to the folder. All spam comes to my inbox now. I cannot open the Junk Folder in a new window. When i try to open the folder in a new window, the error is "cannot display information. There is either a problem connecting to the server or an error occurred".

I do not have an exchange server.

When i check the folder size (1183 messages show), in "Properties", the size reads as "<error>".

The other error during opening the window is "The messaging interface has returned an unknown error".

I have restarted the PC and Outlook numerous times.

I have not made any changes to the software, this has happened not in connection with any changes.

I use Lunar Pages as my mail server and i have not made any changes there.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks :)
 
Close outlook and restart it in safe mode. You can hold ctrl as you click on the Outlook shortcut to start up in safe mode. Does it work ok? If so, what addins do you have installed?




It's possible the view on the junk folder is corrupt. You can reset the views (will remove all custom views) using the cleanviews swtich.




In the Start menu, search field or Windows key+R to open the Run command, type


outlook.exe /cleanviews


and press enter. Note, there is a space between outlook.exe and the /.
 
Thanks so much, Larry. Later, the .pst stopped working. i used the scanpst.exe file and this solved the problem.
