Outlook 2013 does not show in default programs - how do I search

Just installed Outlook 2013. Alerts tell me there is no email associated with outlook and .ppt, etc. I cannot make Outlook 2013 my default because it is not listed - only Outlook 2010 is listed. I have to be able to send attachments. Outlook 2010 is still on the computer but you can understand hesitation in deleting 2010 until 2013 is working. Plus it never said 2010 had to go before 2013 was installed.

Secondly, I am unable to get the search feature of Outlook 2013 to work - searching for old emails is essential for me in my work. This is very frustrating.

What program are you trying to send mail from? Some programs will need to be updated to work with Outlook.

Which office suite did you install? If its a click to run version, it can be side by side with Outlook 2010, but you can only have one outlook open at once. Check in File, Office Account, About Outlook. It will say Click to Run or C2R somewhere in there.
