I have been searching for a way to do this for way to long so I have decided to ask the question.
Setup:
My company supplies access to email for devices using POP or IMAP. Obviously this does not supply me with calendar syncing between my phone and my computer. Since I am on the road a lot I would like to be able to relay on my phone to have an up to date calendar that I can send and receive meeting notices from.
What I have set up so far
I have an outlook.com account that I was using to act as my calendar so I have an active sync account.
I have set up an alias to make my outlook.com account look like it is send emails from my work domain. This all works great.
Issues I have found
If I use the outlook.com web interface to try and send a calendar invite it sends it out form the outlook.com domain and does not look like it is coming from my work domain. Obviously I cannot have that because it is unprofessional. If I try to send them from Outlook2013 on my computer using that account they go no where.
