Updating the database based on received task

I need to make changes in the database as soon as i receive a completed task from a particular person in outlook. Is it possible using custom rules. Please let me know. I am trying to run the script in c# but cannot do it successfully. Please help.
 
What type of changes and what database? Rules can trigger a VBA script to 'do something' when a message meeting certain conditions arrives. I don't think you can use c#, unless you could call it from the vba script.
 
Thanks for your reply. Actually my database already has a column which stores the status of the task when assigned to someone or completed by someone. But it is handled manually. I was looking for a way to automate this process based on the incoming mail which stated the status the of the task. Custom rules can be written using scripts. Hence i wanted to ask if it is possible to make the direct connection to the database using the script and updating the status of the task. If so then please enlighten me how to do so.
