At the moment I do not like the way Outlook helps you organise emails.
For example rules and moving to a folder for me is not a solution since you can easily miss something and even if you check lists of unread email.
My solution is to leave not processed email in the INBOX and once processed I file it.
Following are what would help me a lot (perhaps something already exists)
(1) on each email, near reply, reply all, forward, IM, there should be a button FILE which takes from a list of rules (either the rules in the system which are marked not to work automatic) or new rules.
(2) link 2 conversations in 1 (for now I found a VBA workaround from http://www.vboffice.net/en/developers/send-emails-automatically7) but which ideally should be an integral part of outlook
......
alternatively I think Email is a really old technology which protocol should be re-written from start by the BIG ones to integrate ticket-like features, IMs, etc into one modern new protocol. There are times where you start with an email and continue on Skype ... then you loose lot of history/information/links.
