Cancelled Email Account

I have cancelled an email account that was with godaddy and was 1 of 2 accounts setup in Outlook 2013. I have disabled the send/receive for this account, however, it still asks to "enter your username and password for the following server". I know it is asking because the username and password no longer exist but should it not come up anymore since I disabled the send/receive from that account? I would remove the account but the person who was using it has a lot of email that they are still sorting through. Is there any way to stop it from asking for the password for this account?

Is the account set up as POP3 or IMAP? If pop3, the mail is in a pst file and you can remove the account without issue - removing the account from outlook won't remove the pst from the profile.

If the account is IMAP DO NOT remove the account until you export the contents of the ost to a pst.

The account was set up as a POP3 account and they have archived all their messages.

Remove the Email account in File, Account Settings but don't remove the pst file from the data files tab - this will get rid of the login error but keep the mail in your profile.
