Disable "Always ask before opening" Dialog

I have read Diane Poremsky's very informative article with this same title on this same subject and tried every one of her suggestions on my PC, which is running Windows 10 Pro 64-bit and MS-Office Professional Plus 2019 32-bit, but none of her suggestions work.

The 'Always ask before opening' message in my Outlook stays grayed out and thus I cannot untick it, no matter what I do.

If someone could suggest something else that I could try, I would be very grateful.

I forgot to add that this behavior is only with PDF attachments and no other file type.

Quite a few people are having problems with the tick box not editable when you use admin mode - but editing the registry should work.

Do you have more than one PDF application installed? If so, edit the keys the other PDF apps use.
 
Thank you for your prompt response Diane!

Even though Acrobat Reader DC is set as my default program for opening PDF files, I had not considered any others. I have now tracked down the other keys for my PDF programs in the Registry and added an EditFlags key to each of them with the binary value of 00 00 01 00 as you suggested in that article.

Once of them must have worked, because my problem is now resolved!
