Okay thanks for the comment. And again, I really appreciate you taking the time to document this here so that if (when) I come across this I already know how to handle it :)
Seems to me you're posting in the wrong thread, but anyway it sounds like a permission issue. Make sure you use the...
Is this something which only affects windows server 2016?
I have a single Win10 workstation (1809) connecting to a BCM database shared on windows server 2008 R2 and haven't run into this issue. While I haven't deployed KB3200970 explicitly, wouldn't this be something built-in to builds of Win10...
Thanks for filling in these blanks, Diane! I've gone through all the tutorials and I really can't find anything about the ability to customize fields for Customer records. Is this a feature still supported?
Thanks for sharing, Diane. Based on what you say, it sounds like OCM runs locally like BCM does, is that correct? Is it an outlook plugin just like BCM? Does it still use Microsoft SQL Server to host the database?
I imagine it has customization features at least similar to BCM. Are you able to...
Hi all,
I'm curious if any current or prior BCM administrators have tried out Outlook Contact Manager.
How'd you like it? Did if fulfill your needs in the same way as BCM? Please if you will, share your experience here.
Obviously all of us are in the same boat. Aging CRM software and in need...
You're right, Diane. I did not have the key set correctly--I had it under ../common/Security not under ../Outlook/Security.
Once i set it correctly, this problem goes away! Most excellent! Thanks as always for your amazing efforts in providing help articles for the neglected BCM. I can now roll...
Yes. My appologies for not including the message. I get this when clicking on Contact Management folder, for instance:
In the help articles you have on this issue, how exactly do you view the folder properties to confirm if the registry key is actually adding the homepage tab?
So I've been simply declining any outlook-related security/critical windows update for this very reason. Today I thought, I wonder if the BCM forums happen to have anything about it? Sure enough y'all did!
However--i've tried the solution provided by Diane above, and sadly it does not seem to...
So I restored one of our backups to a new database for testing. Using the method I found at the below link, I increased the database size to well over the maximum 4gb showed by BCM.
How to: Increase the Size of a Database (SQL Server Management Studio)
Initial testing was slow... however I...
Good question, JBC. I have another along these same lines:
Diane, do you know if the database tool's backup function is any different than doing a backup through Management Studio?
Haha yes, it will likely be the end of the world of BCM as we know it... terrifying stuff.
Anyway... I know exactly what sparked this database growth--about 2 years ago we decided that, instead of attaching emails directly to the contact history, we would drag and drop the email from Outlook...
We're about .5gb away from hitting the 4gb mark which BCM still tells us is our size limit.
I'm curious what happens exactly when this point is reached. Any info would be great.
I'm also curious why it is still showing the limit as 4gb, because according to this post here, the DB size limit...
Just had this happen to me today.
Granted, I should have been testing my new form customization in a dev VM rather than my production environment... but alas we have always done our form customization in our live environment. Has never been a problem until now... of course we weren't deleting...
