allright if changing the windows theme changes my sound settings then that s it definitely. been playing around a lot lately with loading new themes because I cant find any good 'solid color windows themes except for the aero themes with the tacky looking streaks in it....... thanks!!

to be honest I am unsure whether this is an outlook 2010 issue or a general windows 7 issue. but this wasn t occuring with outlook 2003 and does happen with 2010 which I am most recently using What is happening, in the sound menu of windows I have set a personal sound for outlook email...
