to be honest I am unsure whether this is an outlook 2010 issue or a general windows 7 issue. but this wasn t occuring with outlook 2003 and does happen with 2010 which I am most recently using
What is happening, in the sound menu of windows I have set a personal sound for outlook email notiification because the standard one is too short in tone for me. However what happens, and I can t determine why, after an unidentified period of time, outlook starts playing the default sound again/the new mail notification settings are re-reset to the default sound.....

anybody any ideas, yr feedback is greatly appreciated!
 
Are you changing the windows theme?


If not, can you identify when it happens, eg, like after a reboot of windows?
 
allright if changing the windows theme changes my sound settings then that s it definitely. been playing around a lot lately with loading new themes because I cant find any good 'solid color windows themes except for the aero themes with the tacky looking streaks in it.......
