Thanks for the info.
I only want to back up the .ost file in case of lost emails or account corruption. (I have already separated out the Contacts and Calendar into a .pst as you have previously recommended.)
If I use a 3rd party backup program (I like SyncBackSE), does Outlook 2016 on Win 10...
this is my friend's computer, I think it is Outlook 2013.
It is an IMAP account with Godaddy. I've checked the Sent folder and they have gone out.
It is not all sent emails, just about 1 out of each 10 emails he sends.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Thanks for the info.
Would Office 365 and an IMAP account allow you to retain copies of deleted emails? Are there some special steps you take for data preservation?
Thanks
That may explain the draft still being there, although he is not the kind of guy to intentionally create a draft.
It is pretty clear it is not in the Sent folder. The email he is looking for was sent in December of 2017. The Sent folder only shows 6 emails sent for the whole year of 2017. When...

He sent some emails a year ago and when he needed to refer to them today, they are not in his Sent folder. But I was able to find them in the...
I seem to remember reading, probably on one of your pages, that you cannot reuse IMAP data files. I assumed that meant you could not use it on a new computer.
But when you say opening it generally doesn't go well, does that mean you cannot even open it even to the degree of being able to copy...

I've right clicked on it and told Carbonite to back it up.
Is there a...
Yes, I thought that Carbonite should have a lot more copies of the pst. It pretty much backs up every changed file within a few minutes, usually. But I am seeing the pst file going for as much as 2 weeks without a new copy by Carbonite. Odd.
I also went into Carbonite to look for copies, and it seems to only be backing up the pst file about once a week, sometimes longer. Is that normal? Is it only detecting it as changed if Outlook is closed or re-opened?
