Well, I updated again to SP1 and couldn't even open Outlook to see whether the problem was still there. I couldn't open Word or Excel either, so I did a reinstall of the entire suite of programs. Thanks for the quick reply, Diane. I am using Windows7 and, though I thought SP1 was already installed, I took a look and it wasn't. So hardware-acceleration may well be the issue (even though it's a pretty new machine). I don't think I'm using aero, but maybe I am...........

Updates Office 365 yesterday and Outlook refuses to open: "not responding". Had to do a system restore. Any way to prevent new updates from happening until this gets fixed?
