Don't know what happened. I rebooted & Outlook now starts. However, it started with the Inbox instead of the calendar, so somehow, the options had changed. I changed it back, but I don't know what caused it all of a sudden.

Message is "Cannot start Microsoft Outlook. Cannot open the Outlook window. The set of folders cannot be opened. The information store could not be opened."

Right. I didn't put in a date criteria...but it doesn't show any future events. In fact, it stops on June 29 & doesn't show anything in July.

I spoke too soon. When I search for "haircut" (without quotes), it lists all past appointments. It doesn't list any for the future, even though I can see them manually, so it's still a problem. When you say "search is screwed up currently", you mean mine...or everyone's?
