OL16, desktop version. win10 2019.
Turned on desktop computer today, opened Outlook. greeted with a request about connecting to internet. Never saw that before. Then I am getting requests for microsoft password, which eventually I figured out was for outlook.com and its syncing calendar...
I am now remembering that i asked about something similar, but not exactly the same, as this a couple of years ago. At that time, the accounts were set up as POP. Now IMAP.
Diane?
I have sets of folders for the accounts that I set up, plus another set for "outlook.com" , which outlook put in. Perhaps it as to do with the outlook.com site that was set up in order to log into something. I don't know. I don't use it . But I do know that occasionally for no reason that I...
OL16 IMAP
I have a main 3rd party account. This account also has 2 aliases. I have the main account and the two aliases set up as accounts in Outlook, with all 3 using the same incoming and outgoing server info. Of course, both aliases show all the same mail as the main account. I did this...
Diane, thanks. I know that other fields can hold a cell phone number. When I look at the car or mobile field on the phone (or on Outlook for that matter), how will I know whose number it is or where it goes to?
OL16: I have some contacts that have more than one cell phone number. I also have an iphone. I sync OL to iphone using Companionlink (I don't think that this is instrumental to the problem). I can add a note to the cell phone number (eg " 111-111-1234 Sarah cell ") in Outlook to id the number...
I think that I have solved the problem. took hours of searching and trial and error. I looked again at the address book options (where diane pointed me to, above). I noticed that in addition to global address book (whatever that is?) there were 2 "contacts" address books. one was already at the...
Seems like this is worse than i thought. Apparently not a OF19 problem. I installed OF16 and having the same issue with Outlook not being able to suggest contacts ('check names') when addressing an email. A some setting or service on this new computer? I have not been able to figure out what...
Diane,
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling office 2019.
I still do not see, when addressing an email, the red squiggly line below a newly used name, or the pop up window asking which possible name do I want to select. It only tells me 'no suggestions'.
This must be a setting...
Thanks Diane. this seems to have fixed the People Search.
Still having problem with Outlook finding suggestions for names in email.
- type a name in To: field (if the name has been used previously it will appear as suggestion).
- In OL16 a red line would eventually appear under the name...
In the past MS hasn't shown itself to be responsive to problems. They're more focused on the next sales pitch.
Our best hope is that Diane has a workaround or solution for this issue.
Diane, thanks for suggestion.
I tried emptying the autocomplete. didn't help.
When I ask to check names in email To: field, it comes back with 'Outlook doesn't recognize XXXX', when I ask to show more names it always is looking in the outlook.com data file. I would have to keep switching to...
Locally Installed version of Outlook in Office 2019, (not 365).
From beginning, 3 days ago, there have been problems with finding contacts. Sometimes the entire name has to be typed. This happens in 'search people' . and not finding names when typing into email To: fields. I can use drop...
right. all 3 accounts are through the same server. all the same as last week, before the problem started. Somehow, deleting and re-establishing the default account started this. or so it seems. another Outlook mystery.
Jeffrey
unchecking "receive mail items" from the two alias accounts seems to have fixed the problem.
I don't understand why this happened. I am pretty sure that I didn't have those options unchecked previous to trying the IMAP setup.
thanks for figuring out a bandaid solution for some screwy...
exactly. that's the question. why isn't it working like that anymore, since I experimented with setting up (didn't finish the setup) the imap account? All three are Pop.
I added "email account" to the view. You are correct. All email from yesterday shows all fastmail.fm email as coming...
to make this a bit stranger. I just tried setting the "reply e-mail" name in account setup to secondalias@fastmail.fm to secondalias@fastmail.fm ( already tried setting "reply email" in the other addresses to their respective names, but it didn't make any difference when I replied).
but...
Outook 2016. Win10
I have a default pop account at default@fastmail.fm, also another pop account through the same fastmail.fm account as firstalias@fastmail.fm (I guess this called an alias?) . all mail is sent and received through the default@fastmail.fm account login. In the past if I...
Indeed. from long ago, when first came out. My short experiments with it last week indicated that categories still didn't transfer, and affiliated groups weren't indicated on individual contacts. perhaps I missed something.
Again, I don't remember what other issues may have been. and I...
