Preventing permanent deletions in Outlook on the Web

Email type or host:    ooutlook.com, MSN Premium
Too often I will delete an email, whether spam or legit, and Outlook will take it upon itself to delete the email above or below it. I then get a message that it's been "permanently deleted," and indeed it's nowhere to be found. Is there a way to prevent this?
