Configuring Outlook 2010

Hi All ,

In the company i work for we are using exchange server for our mails @companyname.com

every one of us has it's own laptop with his Outlook 2007 mail preinstalled by our firm IT Team

i configured my account at my Android Mobile just in few minutes without know a lot of info but it's impossible to me to configure my Outlook 2010 at home

tried to use same values already found under my account info in the working Outlook 2007 but with no success

So any help exporting info from work laptop Outlook 2007 to my Home PC Outlook 2010 ?

did you try using the autodiscover feature? put inyour name, addrss and password and let outlook find it. If it can't, then your company isn't publishing the configuration information and you should ask your admin how to configure it.

The droid is using activesync, outlook uses extended mapi, but autodiscovery should set it in minutes.

Auto Discovery didn't detect the server setting ,

is there any way to extract needed info from Outlook 2007 and using it while setup 2012 configuration ?

you can export it from the registry but may need to re-point it to the correct cache file. On the old computer, go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows Messaging Subsystem\Profiles and export the profile. Import it on the other computer - changing the name in the reg file if it has the same name as an exiting profile on the new computer. (You can open the reg file using notepad.)

After its added to the registry, open control panel, mail and open the profile then double click on the exchange account. On the second tab, check the path the cache file uses. if its not a valid path, disable caching, go back to the main dialog and then come back into more settings and enable cache. (It may sound confusing but it takes more words to explain how to do it than it does to do it.)

Thanks a lot for your help , it seems that it will work

but can't find the old profile name to replace with my other PC profile name , searched in registry key using ctrl+f but can't find it

Did you have a profile on the new compurer? It should be in the same registry key.

The certificate errors means the mail server is using a certifcate issued by the company. You need to publish the certifcate. log into owa and view the certifcate then save it.

on the ost error, is that your username on the new computer? If not, you need to point the profile to a new location for the ost. Do this in Account settings, More Settings dialog.
