Outlook 2007 Sort Column Shading

My inbox is normally sorted by "Received," but I recently clicked on "From" to search for an email. Anyway, when I returned to sorting by "Received," the whole column was shaded in gray. Is there a way to get rid of the shading? I don't think it was shaded before, but I could be wrong... It's nitpicking, I know, but I'd really love to know how to change it!

I'm tempted to default all my Outlook settings, but I'm afraid I'll lose all of my emails. Any reassurance here would also be appreciated.

The column is shaded because its the sort column. AFAIK, you can't remove the shading, only change the sort order.

Try resetting the view - right click on the row of field names and choose Customize view from the bottom of the menu, then reset.
