Outlook 2007 Calendar instant search problem. Windows 7

The Calendar Instant Search seems to work for all words/letter combinations except for any letters that start with my first or last name which then renders 200 including a warning that I should "narrow my search." Clicking on the warning yield 1798 items AND indicates that the Current View is now "All Appointments."
Other instant searches in notes, contacts, and mail seem to be working.
I suspect that the following may have some bearing on the problem:
The problem was much worse until I indexed the search catalog. I do not remember what events may have triggered the problem.
In Search Options/ Index messages there are these two data files: "Stephen Lev..." and "Personal Folders." I am using Microsoft exchange. I have read that using Microsoft Exchange establishes a file on ones PC. (my understanding of these complications is limited). I wonder if the file identified by my full name is connected to the enormous results of searching with first, last, or beginning of first or last name. And I have no idea why the file (folder") name was given my name.
But, how to restore the Calendar Instant Search to health?

I am not quite sure of your question: Each of the different sections of Outlook has a search dialog box (with the magnifying glass icon) at the top of the window. That is what I understand as the 'instant search.' All sections of the Instant Search work excepting the Calendar. That works EXCEPT when I put in enough letters starting with my first name or last name. The results, then, are 1798 items and the Current View becomes All Appointments. That is not what I am looking for.
I do not know if the following is useful or not: Under Search Options/Indexing/Index messages in these data files, there are two files listed, Stephen Lev... and Personal Folders both of which have the check box checked. And, Instant Search Pane has 'Only the currently selected folder." I wonder if that folder Stephen Lev... is the culprit? Can I change that name (where?) to something anonymous and would (might?) that fix things? Or, can I deselect one of the folders?
I am using Microsoft Exchange and read somewhere that a second file is established on the computer.
Apologies for all the questions.
Stephen

Are you doing a simple search - ie, just typing step in the search field? Are you looking for to/from names or words in the body? Narrowing the search using subject:"keywords" or check the body: contents:keyword
I will try again.
I try to do a simple search by typing "step" after indexing in the Day/Week/Month view. The results show up with 1798 items and the Current View becomes All Appointments. I do not try to narrow the search or check body. The instant search works as long as I do not enter the first letters of the first or last name. Typing "phen," the last letters of my first name
I do not know what happened

Again an error:
Typing "phen," the last letters of my first name renders "no matches for 'phen"
